Always be Respectful

Always be respectful, as you truly do not know what others may be experiencing. Slide1

As you move through your day, show kindness and respect to ALL you encounter. Co-workers, clients, strangers, friends, and family members ~ particularly with those whom you live. You never know exactly what anyone in your life or who you interact with may be dealing with in their lives. This includes those who irritate you as well as you are driving, shopping or any other errands. Everyone is experiencing life with ups and downs. Everyone is doing their best and may not even recognize they are not being respectful or kind ,as they may be so inwardly focused on their own difficulties, challenges or troubles. Plus, if we are irritated with their behavior, it may be telling us something we need to address in ourselves.  Perhaps the other person really and truly needs you to ask them what is wrong as you perceive them acting differently than normal.

With family members or those we choose to live with, it is even more important to be kind, compassionate and understanding. I find we tend to be less patient, kind, respectful and so on with loved ones. They happen to be in our space, and living with anyone can be challenging.  When we live with someone or an entire family, we share energies, and if those energies are less than positive, it can affect you and everyone else in our lives. We tend to take out our frustrations on those we live with, as unfortunately, they can be an easy target, since they are right there. Whether we snap back, hide out or anything else which is less than respect only causes more issues.Recognizing this, allows us to help and support the other person during a difficult time.

As humans, it is our egos which can bring us into a state of fear or worse, and this can affect how someone is acting, and they may not even realize it at the time, but if each of us is more aware, showing respect and kindness, it can make all the difference in the world to someone. If someone is in your space who is acting differently than normal, a simple kind phrase can make all the difference such as “is something bothering you, as you seem to be stressed?” Or insert another word for stressed, like angry, tired, frustrated, distant, etc.  The point is not to accuse, but to show compassion by showing you care how someone else is doing, letting them know you wish to help. They may or may not still be aware of what is going on, but let them know you love them and are available when they need you.  We do it with some people and not with others. Again, the ones we are not always respectful & kind towards tend to be our closest loved ones, or those we interact with on a daily basis, but sometimes strangers.  The strangers we can’t always ask, but we can still show respect & kindness because the way the person is behaving has nothing to do with you, it has everything to do with them. We are intended to support one another and help by showing the love, compassion, understanding and kindness as often as we can to everyone and particularly our loved ones.  It helps bring us closer to even better understand and love one another.

Of course, being a Nature lover, I must also state this same respect & kindness needs to be shown to all creatures, plants, water, earth and more. It will help each of us live a happier, healthier, more well balanced and harmonious life with ourselves and ALL in unity and oneness.

Namaste!

  1. Beautiful reminder Heather… I tend to snap at my sister alot; who has the patience of a saint…even though I am not with her all the time….then of course I feel horrible guilt later<3 So so true..and so hard when you share space with someone such as a boyfriend…after the newness wheres off and you get comfortable its easy to put away the niceties ❤

    • Thank you Renae! I totally agree…and we all fall into this pattern if we aren’t careful. I know from recent experience which is why I wrote this blog. Both parties in a relationship need to be more open & aware to what is going within themselves and what may be happening within the other person. Namaste my friend!
